So, you have an adsense account and now you're ready to rake in the bucks. Well, there are a few things you need to know first. Number one is DO NOT click your own ads! This is seen as fraud. The advertisers who pay you for the traffic you send them don't want to pay you to click your own ads! Google has very complex algorithms in use and they will notice if you do this and you WILL get removed from the adsense program.

So how can you find the url in your Google Adsense ads?

Hey let's face it...If your site serves a bunch of unrelated ads your visitors most likely wont click them, and you certainly don't want to redirect a visitor to a competitor (especially if revenue is a factor) . Let's say you don't want a particular advertiser from running ads on your site (a competitor for instance) and you simply want to know what the url is so you can filter them. This has been a problem for many people, and many small time (and not so small time) webmasters have found themselves out of the Google Adsense loop for this very reason!

So how does one check the advertiser that is running ads on your website. There are probably a few ways but here I will mention two. The first is the obvious. Google has a service where you can find out the url of the advertiser, but this has too many steps involved if you are borderline lazy like me! an easier way is described below.

Please note that doing things like this is usually better with Firefox browser.

OK, Let's find some Adsense ad url's

OK, first off let's get our web page open. Once your page is open place your mouse over the ad you want to check and RIGHT CLICK on the ad. Do NOT actually click the ad as you would a link!!! Now, you will see an option to Copy link location:

Once you have copied the link location to your clipboard, paste the data into gedit, notepad or some other text editor. You will see a bunch of stuff but in that mess is the advertisers url:

Now once you have pulled out the advertisers url you can paste that url into your browser and check out the advertisers website...Without actually "clicking" the ad and "defrauding" anyone.
